Technology Group Tasks


1. Join the wiki by clicking on the emailed link you should have received. Create a new account with a suitable username (kids will see this) and password.

2. Create a new page by clicking on the left hand menu "New Page", name it your name for this exercise.

3. Add the heading "Online Privacy and Safety". Highlight it and make it a "Heading 1" (click the top tool bar where it says "Normal" then select Heading 1).

4. Google "Online Privacy" (images) and find an image that you think is relevant. Save it to your file/desktop.

5. Upload the image into the wiki by clicking on the "FIle" button, then click "upload file" and browse through to the location where you saved it. Click on it and wait it for it upload.
Click once to insert onto the wiki page. It should then appear. You can resize it by clicking on the image and pressing the + or - sign.


6. Go to YouTube and search "Online Privacy" for a suitable clip. This is an interesting one if you don't want to search.

7. Underneath the YouTube link click "Share", then click "Embed". A highlighted embed code will then appear. Copy all of this code.

8. Go back to the wiki page and click the "Widget" button on the top toolbar. Click "Video", then click "YouTube".
An empty box will then appear for you to paste the embed code in from the YouTube clip you copied. Click save - it should then appear where you had the cursor.



9. Go to Slideboom

Search "Online Safety" - (there is one slide show on the site, but this is a place where you can upload any you create to allow you to embed in a website).
Click on the slide show then click on the "Embed" button on the top right. The embed code will then appear. Copy it all.

10. Go back to the wiki page and click the "Widget"button on the top toolbar. Click "Other HTML", then paste the copied code into the empty box. Click save.

Now save your page, click "Save" at the top. It does autosave every minute.
